This programme is designed to help individuals gain knowledge of the engineering industry. It will provide insight into the different tasks carried out, but in particular will focus on welding, helping the individual to assess their own suitability to the role and work environment and whether it is what they expected.

Duties to include;

  • Attention to detail in the form of developing a detailed understanding of fabrication drawings
  • Best practice welding and fabrication
  • Keeping work area safe in line with health and safety

Working week

Monday – Friday 8.00am – 3.00pm

Total hours per week: 35.00

John Scott Works is connecting the famous craftsmanship of the steel industry championed in the Black Country with todays smart technology by investing in skilled people, production equipment and facilities.

We do so as a specialist designer, manufacturer and installer of mezzanine floors. The mezzanines are produces completely in house. We use state-of-the-art technology like cold roll forming and robot welding. The cold formed system that constitutes the John Scott Works mezzanine floor provides a cost-effective, practical, innovative and aesthetically pleasing alternative to the traditional hot rolled design.

Future prospects

Progression depends on the person and this will be reviewed throughout the apprenticeship and decided on completion. It is hoped that the successful applicant will have their hard work and dedication rewarded by a full-time position. The right candidate will have the opportunity to continue to develop their skills and become part of the small team on a permanent basis.
