Learners and employers can choose from a variety of units available from the optional groups to make up the remaining credits for the qualification.
The qualification is delivered through a combination of training, guidance, support, self-study and activities in the workplace. On and off job training either through group sessions or on a one-to-one basis. The NVQ will be assessed using varied methods depending on learning style. Technical knowledge and functionality will be assessed through internal and external testing. A portfolio of evidence is required.
Although there are no formal entry requirements apprentices should have basic numeracy, literacy and communication skills, demonstrate approachability and a positive attitude and be enthusiastic about working in a customer service role.
With additional training and support learners may have the opportunity to progress in their careers towards a managerial role and move on to higher level qualifications including higher apprenticeships and foundation degrees.
