This qualification has been developed to support first-line managers, section managers and trainee managers and to up-skill the existing workforce to make businesses more productive, efficient and profitable. It is suitable for those who are entering a variety of management roles such as section manager, first-line manager, assistant manager, trainee manager or senior supervisor.

Learners and employers can choose from a variety of units available from the optional groups to make up the remaining credits for the qualification.
The qualification is delivered through a combination of training, guidance, support, self-study and activities in the workplace. On and off job training either through group sessions or on a one-to-one basis. The NVQ will be assessed using varied methods depending on learning style. Technical knowledge and functionality will be assessed through internal and external testing. A portfolio of evidence is required.
This programme is for learners who have some prior experience in team leading or a management role.
With additional training and support learners may have the opportunity to progress in their careers to roles such middle and senior managers or a wide range of managerial roles within business. Progression to a Level 4 /5 qualifications, Foundation Degree or other undergraduate programmes.
