Performance Through People’s Managing Director speaks at AELP conference

Rob Colbourne, Managing Director of Performance Through People, was one of the speakers at Monday’s AELP conference in London. On behalf of a number of our partners, Mr Colbourne spoke about the large number of changes that had taken place in the training industry recently following the introduction of the apprenticeship levy and reforms to funding and the apprenticeship training itself. While there are many advantages to the reforms, such as an increased focus on higher level apprenticeships and the opportunity to strengthen the apprenticeship brand as more large companies get involved, Mr Colbourne warned that there is still a lack of understanding about apprenticeships among some employers, both large and small, which can lead to confusion. He warned that smaller specialist providers are struggling with the funding changes and that this could lead to a loss of expertise and reduction in the options available to learners.
