Latest figures released on unemployment

The Office For National Statistics has released the latest data on unemployment rates. For the period from March to May 2017 overall unemployment is down to 4.5%, the lowest figure since 1975. The number of people who have been unemployed for over 12 months also dropped to 380,000, a decrease of 80,000 on the previous year.

Unemployment for 16 to 24 year olds remains higher at 12.5%, down from 13.5% a year earlier.
