Anyone in business knows that to receive an award is a great honour. It looks great on a shelf in the office (especially if it’s a fancy glass one!) and better still you can boast about it anytime and anywhere!! But, the journey to those awards isn’t easy and anyone who thinks it is is sadly mistaken. Over the years with my time at the Chamber of Commerce I saw many applications for the awards and whilst some were professional and others nearly so, it never ceased to amaze me how hard it was for people to sing their own praises. Is that a British thing? Why do we find it so hard to tell everyone how wonderful we are and what a great job we are doing? With this in mind, I believe that’s why so many applications for awards fall short when it comes to the ‘boasting’ bit. The funny thing is lots of other people will be telling everyone how great you are, but they don’t tell you!

So, I am now going to ‘boast’ about how fantastic Performance through People are as an organisation. We have recently announced that we are finalists in the Education and Business Partnership category of the Black Country Chamber Awards which recognises building relationships with the business community and supporting learners to develop employability. Plus, we have also been shortlisted in the Learning Provider category of the Asian Apprenticeship Awards, which recognise and celebrate apprentices within the British Asian community and their employers, how fabulous are we? We are wonderfully fabulous and hopefully if we win we can ‘boast’ until the cows come home 😊
