    Overview

    A career in Health & Social Care will involve the treatment of ill health in hospitals, care homes, health centres and homes for the vulnerable. You will work to support, maintain, and improve the physical and mental health of people in your community.

    Standards

    You will be working towards an apprenticeship standard in one of the following:

    • Adult Care Worker (Level 2)
    • Senior Healthcare Support Worker (Level 3)
    • Lead Practitioner in Adult Care (Level 4)

    Brief Overview of the Role We are looking for warm, positive and enthusiastic individuals to provide person centered support to people with learning disabilities. You will work to make a difference and promote independence whilst enabling people to enjoy a fulfilling and valued life. Duties to Include
    • Giving non-discriminatory care Record and report all relevant information
    • Working with therapists and doctors to ensure consistency of support Supporting and monitoring healthcare and needs
    • Teaching life skills and supporting new hobbies and interests
    • Helping with personal hygiene e.g. toileting
    • Support with eating and drinking
    • Helping clients to access community facilities
    • Cleaning and cooking will be required on a rota basis
    • Planning and delivering activities to service users
    The training you will be getting Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard:
    • Functional Skills, if required
    • Care certificate
    • Training around Autism, learning disability and others specific to the role
    Desired skills and personal qualities Communication skills, Organisation skills, Patience, Team working Desired Qualifications
    • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) desirable
    • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) desirable
    Working Hours and Wage

    Shifts are on a 2 week rolling rota and will include weekday and weekend work.

    Total hours per week: 40 hours a week

    Brief Overview of the Role To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence and to help in the general day-to-day activities of the home. Duties to Include
    • To assist service users who need help with getting up in the morning, dressing, undressing, washing, bathing and the toilet.
    • To help service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence; help in use and care of aids and personal equipment.
    • To care for service users who are temporarily sick and needing, for example, minor dressings, bed nursing, help with feeding, etc.
    •  To help care for service users.
    • To help in the promotion of mental and physical activity of service users through talking to them, taking them out, sharing with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
    • To make and change beds; tidy rooms; do light cleaning and empty commodes.
    • To inspect and launder service users' clothing.

Shifts TBC. Total hours per week: 35.0 Future Prospects A full time role will be available to the successful candidate at the end of the apprenticeship.
