Our history
Performance Through People (PTP) has a proud history within the Chamber of Commerce movement, with its roots dating back to the late 1960s.
Our story began when Walsall Chamber of Commerce established a training arm, Chamber Training, to provide engineering and management training for its member businesses. It was created in response to the growing needs of employers seeking to develop their workforce, improve skills, support recruitment and address the challenges of an ageing workforce.
As demand for training grew, so did the organisation’s reach. What began in Walsall expanded across the Black Country and Staffordshire, supporting employers and individuals across an increasingly diverse range of sectors.
From Chamber Training to PTP
As the organisation continued to develop, PTP Training Ltd was established as a trading company and wholly owned subsidiary of the Chamber. This enabled PTP to broaden its offer and geographical reach, working with employers across Birmingham, the Black Country, Staffordshire and the wider Midlands area, alongside an expanding programme of national delivery. Throughout this journey, our purpose has remained consistent: to help people and businesses develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
Following a period under new ownership between 2020 and 2025, PTP Training returned to its Chamber roots through its acquisition by the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Group.
This brought together two established training organisations, combining their experience, expertise and strong employer relationships to create even greater opportunities for businesses, apprentices and learners across the UK.
PTP Today
PTP Training continues to operate under its established brand, retaining its experienced leadership team and its commitment to delivering high-quality training and development. For our staff, employers, apprentices and learners, it remains business as usual. At the same time, being part of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Group creates new opportunities to collaborate, innovate and grow.
Together, the organisations are building on their shared values, knowledge and expertise to strengthen training provision and create greater opportunities for businesses, individuals and communities across Coventry and Warwickshire, the UK.
